Event description
Join us on to hear Grace Acan's story as a child soldier. Her journey back and how she's helping others.

About this Event

Beautiful World Canada provides an education to girls in Ethiopia, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, & Uganda. We know that education is vital in setting up a young woman for success and helping her family to escape a life of poverty.

On Wednesday, October 2nd, 2019 we hope you will join us for a continental breakfast to learn more about the work of Beautiful World Canada and hear of the life of our special guest, Grace Acan.

Grace was born in Uganda and in 1996, she was abducted along with 138 schoolgirls by the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA). These young girls were marched to South Sudan where they endured close to 9 years of forced labour, hardship and unspeakable violence at the hands of the rebels.

Grace never gave up hope.

She escaped the LRA to resume her education, providing leadership to thousands of students in high school and university.

Today, Grace is an advocate for women and children affected by war. Grace Acan is a survivor, a writer, a transitional justice practitioner & translator.

We hope that you’ll join Beautiful World Canada for Grace Acan’s important story of resilience.

Around the world, 62 million girls are not in school. Let’s change that.
