About this event
Coffee is one of the most popular drinks around the world with the first cup being served in Ethiopia in the 9th century. Still to this day, the best coffee originates from Ethiopia and other countries that lie within the coffee bean belt, an area around the equator where the majority of farmers and producers are people of color. Rich in history and tradition, coffee ceremonies have served as important social and cultural occasions for building relationships among friends, family, and community. Buna tetu (come drink coffee) with us and share the journey from bean to brew as we celebrate International Coffee Day and talk about the future of coffee.
Abdi Cheik, owner of Drip Coffee Lounge and one of the few Black roasters in the country, will share his story from Ethiopia to Cincinnati and the importance of getting more people of color into the coffee industry at fair wages.
Come participate in our Jebena Buna ceremony and enjoy traditional food!
