Event description

Description

On August 19, 2017, to follow up our premier at Studio BE last year, 8th Count will present its second annual scholarship fundraiser, “Be The Light, Be The Love” fusing fashion, art, music, and movement together as we preview our new season of dance and art inspired pieces!

8th Count prides itself on enhancing self-love, promoting fitness, encouraging critical thinking, and philanthropy. The 8th Count brand was created to inspire and support artists, especially young collegiate artists in need of financial assistance. We have upheld this mission by placing a percentage of profits into a scholarship fund to disperse amongst recipients each school year. Thus far, we have had the pleasure of sponsoring a $500 book scholarship to an incoming journalism major at Dillard University for her Fall 2017 semester, and she will be presented with her scholarship at the production!

In addition to sounds by DJ Polo, Be The Light, Be The Love will also feature exclusive wardrobes provided by Stay Tooned children's wear, Aikon by Isis, NAVE, and Mimi Crown Wedding Gowns. There will be performances by The Melodic Flames: Rahim Glaspy, Shak Smith, and Erika Flowers; The Poetic Ignitors: Brandon LaBeaux and Calligraphy; and The Dancing Sparks: Tia B, Christina Ruffins, Taylor Elise, Monique Brogan, Kenesha Reed, Michaela, and Tai Teamer as they command Cafe Istanbul, 5:00-6:30 pm. There will also be special performances by Crescent City Aerial Arts, Kelly School of Dance and Gymnastics, and Jazzy Fusion Dance Unlimited. Doors open at 4:30pm, and tickets are available for $15.

“When you support 8th Count, you are funding college scholarships, and supporting the creativity, and mental health and wellness of youthful artists. Be The Light, Be The Love is bringing together the best collaboration of artists from across New Orleans for a positive cause.” For additional details, vendor, or sponsorship information, please call (832) 444-0341 or email 8thCountDanceWear@Gmail.Com
