Leadership Series

We need to make this world a better place. Leaders in Head Start visualize a better world which is built, in part, upon the critically important work we do in Head Start and Early Head Start around child and family development. Our goal is to help children, families, staff and communities to thrive.

Mahatma Gandhi said, “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” This Leadership Series provides a roadmap for new and seasoned leaders to become the best versions of ourselves and, by so doing, to become the best leaders that our world – and Head Start – so desperately needs. Sessions in this 3-part series can be taken as stand-alone workshops or as a full leadership series, whichever works best for individual participants.

Part 3 ⏺ June 1. Leadership Engagement with Compassion. This session will look at how leaders can engage – actively and with compassion – by bringing a cooperative mindset to our interactions and communication which prioritizes care for others, unconditional compassion, and the “vibe” we create to nurture and support the development of those around us.

Learning Objectives

• Participants will review the foundational functions of human interaction and communication in nurturing and supporting the development and well-being of others.
• Participants will consider the leadership responsibility to strive for unconditional compassion, and how this informs the climate or “vibe” we create which enables others to thrive and self-actualize.
• Participants will discuss communication and engagement techniques, grounded in the spirit of cooperation and interdependence, to support and inspire those we lead.
