Event description

Description

How can we put our spiritual truth into practice to advocate for social change?

This workshop provides tools and resources to create advocacy skills so that participants feel personally empowered. Come prepared to participate and provide areas of concern. Based on level of interest, a second workshop will be offered to craft specific actions that support social justice initiatives identified by the new Unity of Fairfax Social Justice group.

The workshop is facilitated by Unity of Fairfax Executive Director Jenice Jones-Porter and member Karen Skelton.

Jenice Jones-Porter is a former college professor who taught American government and political science, and has more than 20 years' experience in advocacy and lobbying work in the state of Illinois and at the federal-level for disenfranchised populations.

Karen Skelton has three years' advocacy and lobbying experience in the Virginia General Assembly in matters of education.

Event is free. Donations will be accepted.
