Description

Become the best boss your reports will ever have.

Maybe you just received your first headcount or were promoted to lead your current team. Maybe you're mid-way through onboarding a direct report. Or maybe you've been managing for years but still feel like you're doing everyone's job for them and are left feeling overwhelmed, with no time or energy to focus on the strategic and creative work you’re passionate about. You're grappling with the core questions:

- What does it mean to be a great people manager?

- How do I balance my role as an individual contributor but bring up others at the same time?

At Refound, we believe that the true core of effective management is the ability to provide employees and colleagues high-value feedback and have effective one-on-one conversations that inspire others to hold themselves accountable. This means there’s less slack for you to pick up from your team and that your reports are growing personally and professionally at an unprecedented and career-rocking pace. For this, they’ll be forever grateful.

We believe this ability — to instill accountability in others — is central to every other responsibility you'll have as a manager, from writing JDs to promoting your superstars. From seasoned execs to first-time managers, we’ve seen clients make lifelong changes with a few simple (but not easy!) shifts to doing accountability well.

We'd love to help you get there.

Join us for our one-day Manager Training with Refound’s CEO, Jonathan Raymond — Author of Good Authority: How to Become the Leader Your Team is Waiting For, and Astrid Schanz-Garbassi, Product Development Lead and Facilitator at Refound. Here's a sketch of what this event will look like:

Part One — Inhabiting Authority

What is the role and what are the goals of a People Manager? During the first half of the Workshop, we dig in to our current assumptions about People Management, Leadership and Authority. Through a combination of group and independent exercises, we make the space to distill what our goals really are as People Managers. Once the goals are clear, the way you'll think about the role will be completely transformed.

Part Two — Accountability Conversations

As a participant, you’ll develop your skills in delivering high-value feedback, establishing a cadence of effective one-on-one's, and learn how to foster a culture of personal accountability on your team. Through a combination of teaching, small group discussion and drills, you’ll come away with a clear picture of how you can manage in this new way and some clear metrics to make sure you stay on track.

Our teaching style.

Nobody is born a good people manager. Great leaders — like great athletes, musicians, and performers — go through hours of deliberate training, constantly falling short of the goal and making the tiniest adjustments, to acquire the skills and instincts to perform at the top of their game. We've got a philosophy, but our focus is on the drills and scales that can be repeated over and over in the real moments of your real day at work … to become the best bosses we can be.

The experience lasts much longer than the two-day event.

Your ticket includes 6-months of follow up micro-mentoring as well as access to a set of tools to help you track your progress with each direct report over time. This will ensure that you have repeated opportunities to deepen your understanding of Refound principles, reflect on how you’re doing so far, and take action if you’re falling short of where you hoped to be. You’ll also build relationships with fellow people managers at other organizations — a gift that will keep on giving throughout your journey as a manager and your career.

We want to help make this course accessible to you.

The cost of this course is $1,750. Ask your boss or HR rep about what education stipend may be available to you. If this is prohibitively expensive but you’d really like to attend, please reach out to astrid@refound.com. We’d love to help you make the case to your employer for why it’s a no-brainer for them to sponsor your attendance, or if they don’t have the means, we’d love to discuss financial aid options.
