Event description

Description

Calling all high school youth who want to make a difference in NYC communities! The NYC Youth Leadership Council initiative is hosting a workshop on NYC's Open Data platform on March 7th from 5-7pm, and we'd love to have you there.

What is NYC Open Data? It's a FREE online resource for anyone in NYC to search for data and facts across NYC. You get access to data that can tell you more about where you live, go to school, eat, shop, and hang out - and it's information you can access on your smartphone, tablet, or computer.

"But how do I use data?" We'll teach you! The workshop will show you around the platform (and you'll get to meet super cool people from the Mayor's Office of Data Analytics and hear about their jobs), and we'll also work with you to get into the platform and search issues that are important to you.

It's basically the perfect tool to use when you are investigating the issues you care about around your neighborhood, school, and NYC.

Refreshments will be provided. This event is open to all NYC high school youth, and members of NYC Youth Leadership Councils are highly encouraged to attend.

Be sure everyone planning to attend registers separately - or you can email Mary Hinesley with a list of participants (first name, last name, school, YLC, and email) at mhinesley@cityhall.nyc.gov

See you there!
