Event description

Description

Calling everyone who likes to grow their own food or would like to learn how to grow their own vegetables, herbs and/or fruit! Join us for the Be Healthy: Grow Your Own Food four-class series beginning on Monday, August 5th from either 6-7:30 pm (meeting for four consecutive Mondays) and ending on Monday 26th . Learn how to grow your edibles in containers and in the ground. Don’t worry if you don’t have a yard to garden in because you’ll get to make your own 5-gallon bucket SIP (Sub-Irrigated Planter) to take home and grow some food. Participants will also learn how grow to transplants from seed and/or cuttings plus, how to grow nutrient dense food. The topics that will be covered in the four classes include: Propagating Plants from Seeds and Cuttings, a copy of our Florida Vegetable Gardening Guide, How to Grow Culinary Herbs and Fruit here in Brevard, What Plants Need to Grow; Complete Plant Nutrition & Container Gardening; Nurture the Soil; and Strategies for Pest Control.

Each ticket includes all the handouts, supplies to construct a 5-gallon bucket SIP and some seeds of a few heirloom vegetables, culinary herbs and flowers. Couples can pay for 1 ticket if they want to share everything. It doesn't matter if you have a huge yard or just a balcony, everyone can grow their own nutritious food!

The cost of the class is just $60.
