BDS: The Nonviolent Option
Event Information
About this Event
The Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement is a nonviolent campaign led by Palestinians and their supporters to resist, demand accountability for human rights violations, and put pressure on Israel to end the occupation of Palestinian territories.
As such, this event seeks to dismantle the false conflation between BDS and anti-Semitism, and educate the audience on best practices and success stories.
Our panelists will go beyond a general overview of BDS policies to emphasize the importance of the conversation. They will be addressing the following important questions:
- Why are we having this conversation now?
- What bills are currently on the floor?
- What are the implications of proposed legislation?
Panelists include
- Estee Chandler, Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP)
- Muhammad Yusuf Tarr, Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) USC Chapter
- Kareem Youssef, Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) UCLA Chapter
- Salam Al-Marayati, Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC)
