REGISTRATION UPDATE:

Due to demand, registration is temporarily closed. We plan on releasing tickets in the next few days, so please come back soon.

On March 10th 1986 BDP first opened its doors…

34 years later, we are celebrating our anniversary by opening our doors and inviting professionals, academics and partner organisations to a range of presentations and exhibitions exploring our work at BDP.

Talks & Exhibitions

There will be the opportunity to attend up to three sessions throughout the morning – delving into the whys and hows behind a range of BDP services.

  • Promoting Welfare at Clubs and Festivals
Go behind the scenes of our Night Time Economy outreach service, providing harm reduction at clubs and festivals across Bristol. Explore new and emerging drug trends and discover outreach resources used to engage and educated members of the public.
  • Preventing Criminal Exploitation of Young People
Discover how BDP’s Youth Team are preventing young people becoming criminally exploited and entering the criminal justice system. Showcasing the new ‘Dealer or No Dealer’ game, helping young people develop resilience from exploitation.
  • Reducing Injecting Harms for People Who Inject Drugs
BDP’s Needle & Syringe Programme and nursing services provide safer injecting resources and healthcare for people who inject drugs. Find out how we are promoting evidence-based harm reduction messages to challenge false beliefs and developing new resources to prevent Skin & Soft Tissue Infections.
  • Substitute Prescribing within Primary Care
Explore why Substitute Prescribing (Opioid Substitution Therapy) within GP surgeries is vital to BDP’s harm reduction and recovery aims, why we deliver it in the way that we do and how its delivery locally fits with national guidance. From titration, optimal prescribing, medically assisted recovery to detoxification.
  • Tackling Drug Deaths with Naloxone Training
Overdosing on opioids like heroin remains a major cause of death among people who inject drugs in Bristol. Find out how we are supporting people at risk of overdose and other organisations to reverse the effects with the life-saving drug Naloxone.

Free Lunch

Afterwards, join us for our closing words and delicious free lunch, where our Rising Voices Recovery Choir will treat us to a performance and we will say thank you to our departing trustee of many years, John Prior.

Due to limited numbers, please register early to confirm your place. Registration closes midday Tuesday 3rd March.

BDP Trustees (and former trustees) do not need to register tickets.

Note: We wish to welcome a diverse selection of professional organisations and academics to attend our event. If we receive a disproportionate amount of registrations from any organisation, or unsuitable registrations, we will be in contact to find a resolution.
