UPCOMING DATES TO BE ANNOUNCED SOON
October 17 date cancelled to support other Dakota educational events that evening.
5:30 PM- approximately 8:30PM
Bdote is the Dakota word for "meeting place of rivers" and specifically the confluence of the Mississippi River and Minnesota River which is located near Fort Snelling and the Mendota Bridge. Join Jim Bear and/or other Dakota elders who will be graciously guiding a tour of several sites within the Bdote area.
We desire for the whole group to ride together and to keep the group relatively small, so please RSVP early to allow us to plan appropriately for our outings.
Target audience: Faith community leaders, interfaith leaders, "Healing Minnesota Stories" planning group, community members interested in learning more.
We will do our best to accommodate the physical abilities of all attendees but you should expect to do a some walking on uneven surfaces and dirt/gravel paths.
Dress for the weather with sturdy, footware rather thansandals.
If weather is severe we will reshedule. (Call 952-888-4311 for recorded message by 3 PM on day of tour).
To be culturally respectful, women, please wear a skirt (pants underneath are encouraged); those who are on their moon should elect to attend a different day.
You are encouraged to bring a filled water container in a small pack.
Please come in a spirit of reverence rather than tourism. (Perhaps bring cameras on another visit) and try to clear your day of other events so that you can come refreshed and not leave hurried.
It would be very appropriate to provide a cash thank you to your indigenous guide(s).
