Event description

Description

Join us at our final middle school tournament of the season! Register here to serve as a Volunteer Judge.

Volunteer judges listen to students, providing vital reinforcement for the notion that students have valuable ideas to contribute to society. After the debate, judges offer encouragement, share advice for the next round, and tell the tournament organizers who won. No knowledge or experience in debate is necessary.

Volunteer judges ensure that all students have the opportunity to debate at each tournament that they attend: we could not host tournaments without them!

Tournament Information

Hours & Meals: Middle School Tournament 6 & City Championships is a one-day tournament. Volunteers serve from 8:30a to 2:30p. New judge training begins at 8:00a. We provide free coffee, breakfast, lunch, and networking opportunities.

Judge Training: New judge training is required for first-time volunteers and strongly recommended for returning judges before their first tournament of a new season.

Location & Parking: Middle School Tournament 6 & City Championships is located at Suffolk University. We recommend using public transportation as parking in the area is extremely limited. Suffolk is accessible by the red or green lines at Park St., the orange line at Downtown Crossing, and the blue line at Bowdoin. For those who choose to drive, Suffolk University recommends these parking facilities.

Reminders and additional details will be sent by email during the week leading up to the tournament.

Registration Instructions

All volunteers should complete our Volunteer Informaton Form and a CORI before their first shift. Please use the same email address for all three forms. We do our best to accommodate all volunteers - please contact Alexandra at apapagno@bostondebate.org if you have any questions or concerns about completing either form.

To Register Yourself: Click "Register" and select one ticket for the shift for which you'd like to volunteer. To volunteer for multiple shifts, select one ticket for each shift.

To Register Multiple Volunteers: Click "Register" and select the number of people who will be volunteering for each shift. If you're registering multiple volunteers for multiple shifts, select the total number of people who will be volunteering for each shift. Please note that each person will need to complete the Volunteer Information Form and online CORI form.
