About this Event
BCLA presents a Career Month this February, which will consist of weekly career development workshops during the first three weeks, followed by our annual Career Fair.
Career Fair
FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 26, 12 PM-4 PM PST
Join us on Remo for the much-anticipated career fair, where we already have over 20 companies confirmed to exhibit. Come prepared in professional attire and make sure to have your CVs ready to share with our recruiters!

In the last career development workshop of BTC, Octavio Avila, the Director of USC Dornsife Career Pathways, will share career fair strategies that focus on how to effectively network online, establish your personal branding on social media, and craft an elevator pitch.

Speakers
Helen Vong
Helen Vong is the VP of Business Development and Customer Success at Scismic. She oversees operations and has helped expand Scismic's footprint to the West Coast. Helen's experience spans different industries where she's built and managed teams focused on customer relations and its technology. In her role at Scismic, she has helped many companies set up effective hiring processes and understand what companies look for in their candidate evaluation process.
Dr. Roshni Rao
Dr. Roshni Rao is the Director of PHutures, a new office created to establish and grow a culture of life design, professional development, mentoring, and connections for our doctoral students and postdoctoral fellows at Johns Hopkins University. Roshni currently develops a plan for enhancing the professional development, life design, alumni connections, employer engagement, and career opportunities for doctoral students and Postdoctoral fellows at Johns Hopkins University. Roshni holds a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences from the University of South Carolina, PGDipSci from the University of Otago in New Zealand, and bachelor’s in microbiology, Chemistry and Botany from St. Joseph’s College at Bangalore University in India.
Octavio Avila
Octavio Avila serves as Director of USC Dornsife Career Pathways. Octavio’s career spans 20 years in higher education including work in career and academic advisement, admission, and institutional leadership. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Ethnic Studies from UC Berkeley and a Master of Education degree from the USC Rossier School of Education. His primary interests include education, psychology, neuroscience, philosophy, and human performance.
