Did you miss your chance to snag a tasting kit for the upcoming Virtual Tea Tasting (Feb 23) with tea expert and alum Matt Chong? While the kits are sold out, feel free to see if your local shop happens to carry the teas Matt will highlight:
• Long Jing Pre Quinming Xi Hu - Organic (Green) - Long Jing means Dragonwell
• Yunnan Hong Cha Golden Buds (Black) - Hong Cha means Red Tea
• Gaba Oolong Jin Xuen - Nantou (Oolong) - Jin Xuen means Milk
The BCIT Alumni Association is thrilled to launch a Virtual Tea Tasting Experience with BCIT alumnus and Tea Expert, Matt Chong. Join us on February 23 for an evening of immersion with one of the world’s most ancient beverages in celebration of Chinese New Year. Those who love a fine wine or scotch, will be familiar with the format of the tasting and may be surprised at the depth of flavour that top quality teas offer. Participants are encouraged to purchase a hand-curated box of exclusive rare teas to follow along with Matt. Learn about the history of each tea, brewing tips, and tasting notes. You'll even learn how tea is as complex a beverage as many of your favourite wine or spirits. Guests can brew and sample teas during this interactive program. Immerse yourself in a guided tour of the world’s most highly regarded teas. You will leave the event with a new perspective and an appreciation for this unassuming beverage.
The evening experience is complimentary to attend. We highly recommend purchasing a box of teas to be delivered directly to your door so you can fully participate in this experience. Purchase the teas from the BCIT Alumni Store. The box includes:
- 3 tea samples
- Fillable tea bags
- BCIT alumni pin
- BCIT alumni journal, for recording tasting notes
- Tea wheel, for identifying flavours
- Brewing instructions
On behalf of the BCIT Alumni Association, this invitation is open to alumni, students, staff, faculty, family and friends.
If you are interested in purchasing a Tea Kit and you live outside of Canada, please get in touch with the Alumni Relations office at alumni@bcit.ca to coordinate shipping.
