In order to continue to offer this education and networking opportunity to the growing Eating Disorders Community of Practice, this year’s event will require a registration fee of $25. Through this fee we hope to meet rising event costs while also providing an excellent educational component and maintaining our travel subsidy program. The $25 will go towards the cost of meals, and we expect that public sector employees will be able to claim this expense through their employer. Send all remittance advice to roperations@phsa.ca.

EVENT:  BC Eating Disorders Community of Practice (CoP) 8th Annual Networking & Education Days!


ABOUT:
  Join the Eating Disorders CoP Networking & Education Days where you'll have the opportunity to learn, exchange knowledge, make connections, and share experiences about eating disorders practice in BC!

*There will be an opportunity for anyone to join dinner & drinks folliowing Thursday's workshop at Colony (2904 Main Street)


TIME:  
8:45am - 4:45pm both days!


LOCATION:
  Heritage Hall, 3102 Main Street, Vancouver, BC
*Please note that there is no parking lot. Parking is on the street and is not restricted to residents. There is two hour metered parking in front of the building on Main Street.

WHO CAN ATTEND:
 
Eating Disorders educators, clinicians, practitioners and service providers across the province of BC.


GUEST SPEAKER:
 
Jacqueline Carter-Major, Associate Professor and Psy.D. Program Director; R. Psych, Memorial University. Jacqueline's research has focused on understanding the nature and maintenance of eating disorder psychopathology, evaluating psychological treatments for eating disorders, and identifying predictors and mediators of treatment outcome. Her current research is focused mainly on understanding and treating Binge Eating Disorder.

CALL FOR PRESENTATIONS!

  1. Introductions ~10 minutes
    Great way for the Community of Practice to put a 'face to a name' and hear more about your program!
    *Introductions exclusive to teams working in the Public Sector. Please identify which team you are a part of when registering.
  2. Group Presentation ~20 minutes (2 spots available)
    This is your chance to share a project, research, or something you'd like to share with the entire Community of Practice! Topics can range from across the continuum of health promotion to prevention, treatment and recovery of eating disorders.
  3. Become a Share Fair Presenter! ~15 minutes 
    This is your opportunity to showcase your programs, activities, accomplishments, or a topic you feel passionate about with the Community of Practice in a small group setting. 

 *Please let us know by September 29th, 2017 if you'd like to present.

COST

TRAVEL SUBSIDIES

A limited number of subsidies are available to support travel to the workshop.
This covers travel and accommodation only, not food/per diems.

  • Criteria for eligibility:
    Primary work in eating disorders
    Employed by regional health authority, MCFD, or contracted service

  • Travel subsidies available:
    Northern region: $600 (6 delegates)
    Interior region: $350 (6 delegates)
    Vancouver Island region: $250 (6 delegates)


  • Subsidies can apply to:
    Hotel/accommodations
    Transportation (flight, ferry, ground)
    Parking.
    Original receipts of expenses must be submitted for reimbursement.

Subsidies will be allocated based on a lottery system. Eligible individuals should indicate whether they would like to be entered into the lottery on the registration site by October 11th, 2017. All eligible candidates who have registered and have indicated that they wish to be considered for the subsidies by the deadline will be entered into a draw. All candidates will be notified about the outcome by October 13th, 2017.

  3. Participate in our Working Groups!  We are busy developing special interest groups around various disciplines and topics for you. The groups will provide a platform for CFE members to:

    ~Communicate program updates
    ...and much more!
