BBQ Boot Camp, hosted by the Purdue Alumni Club of Tippecanoe County
Event Information
Description
Backyard grill masters are invited to join Dr. Stacy Zuelly, professor of animal sciences as she demonstrates and explains multiple meat preparation skills at Purdue University’s BBQ Boot Camp.
The program will be held Saturday, April 21, 3-6 p.m. at Purdue’s Land O’Lakes, Inc. Center for Experiential Learning & Purina Pavilion (parking is available at the nearby Harrison Street Parking garage or multiple surface lots as marked).
Participants will receive a spiral-bound reference book as they rotate through five hands-on learning stations, culminating with a buffet-style dinner featuring entrees, sides, bread, dessert, and drinks.
Topics include but are not limited to: cut selection, rubs and marinades, various cooking methods and when they are best used, along with how to best determine the degree of doneness. The newest station, Burger 101, aims to help attendees figure out how they can make just a little better burger.
A brief tour of the facility will also take place for those in attendance.
