About this event

On the eve of MLK Day, and days before Black History month, join us to learn how we can drive economic impact in the Black community by leveraging our skillsets, our entrepreneurial innovation, our spending power, and our vote.

Schedule of Activities includes:

2:00 pm - Networking - Enjoy complimentary food & drinks while you mingle with other guests. In partnership with BBEx Network Partners, including African American Chamber of Commerce of PA, NJ, & DE (AACC), National Association of African Americans in HR (NAAAHR) Philadelphia Chapter, Blacks in Technology Foundation (BIT) Philadelphia Chapter, For(bes) The Culture, and DiverseForce On Boards (DFOB).

2:45 pm - Passive & Active Wealth Building Panel - Subject-matter experts will discuss opportunities for passive and active wealth building through the lens of Franchising, Tech Entrepreneurship, Real Estate / Airbnb, Government Contracting. Panelists include:

3:45 pm - Keynote Address by Maggie Anderson - A keynote address from Activist and Author of Our Black Year, Maggie Anderson. In partnership with Black Dollar Network and Shoppe Black.

4:30 pm - Meet the Candidates Mayoral Forum - History reveals that political power precedes economic power. Meet the candidates running for Mayor of Philadelphia to hear their positions on topics related to the economic advancement of Philadelphia’s Black community. Moderators will help guide the conversation to promote the vision, the voice and the value of Black talent and Black businesses in the region. Confirmed candidates for the Forum include:

This Forum is a part of Every Voice, Every Vote, a collaborative project of The Lenfest Institute for Journalism, with lead support provided by the William Penn Foundation.
