Our Social Mixers and Thought Leadership Series events are created to get executives in the payments, Fintech and commerce industry the opportunity to meet on a regular basis in the city where they live or work building relationships with peers over time.
For this session on Thursday, December 8, we have invited Sasha Orloff, co-Founder and CEO of Lendup.
LendUp is an online-only direct lender of small-dollar-amount, short-term, unsecured loans designed for emergency cash or making ends meet. The company’s structure allows customers to earn their way to an annual percentage rate (APR) as low as 29% over time as they repay their loans on time and complete credit education courses at the LendUp website. The courses cover credit building, consumer credit rights, the true cost of credit, credit reports, building credit, and protecting yourself online. Based in San Francisco, California, the company was founded in 2012.
During this event, we will have the opportunity to understand what it takes to raise money from 15 investors for a seed round, bringing in Google Ventures in the series A round and raising over $111M overall. The experience is very recent as all this happened in just 4 years at Silicon Valley speed, the last round having closed just a few months ago in August 2016.
Our Fireside Chat with him will allow us to understand better the world of consumer lending from the inside and how technology had an impact and is disrupting the whole industry.
Having gone through organizations like the Grameen Foundation, the World Bank and more recently Citi, Sasha will share his vast experience and answer your questions if you attend the event or if you watch the live streaming in real time.
We selected Sasha for this event as we had him in our April 14, 2016 on Alternative Lending with Prosper Marketplace, Sofi and Lendstreet. You can see the video of that event directly on the event page HERE.
This Thought Leadership event is FREE for Social Members and will be our last event in San Francisco for 2016. We are preparing actively our program for 2017 so stay tuned.
Feel free to inform colleagues and friends about this event who may be interested.
