What is Drop the MIC?

Drop the MIC (Military Industrial Complex) is a national campaign in partnership with About Face: Veterans Against the War. BAY-Peace youth lead the community action research project in the Bay Area, utilizing Research, Peer Political Education and Community Based Arts to transform the militaristic culture and systems of violence.

To prepare for our annual Drop the MIC presentation, our youth interns have collected over 300 youth surveys and will hold 3 circulos that center dialogue and medicina to help community members and families impacted by different forms of violence. In each youth-led arts healing circulo, we will learn more about ourselves and each other as we collectively transform our stories into liberating art pieces. Our interns have also been facilitating two different Theater of the Oppressed class classes at West Oakland Middle School to prepare them for their theatrical performances during the gala.
