Event description
Discover how to recycle stormwater with Save the Great South Bay Director of Habitat Restoration Frank Piccininni.

About this Event

Stormwater runoff accounts for a large percentage of nitrogen in our local waterways which in turn triggers harmful brown tides in the Great South Bay. Managing stormwater runoff is not only one of the three essential elements of a Bay Friendly Yard but crucial to protecting the Bay.

Join us on Saturday, March 13th at 10:00 AM via Zoom for a 20-minute presentation with Frank Piccininni, Director of Habitat Restoration at local environmental non-profit Save The Great South Bay, 501(c)3. In the presentation Frank will show you how to recycle stormwater through attractive yard features such as rain gardens, bioswales and other techniques. Bring your questions as we have allotted lots of time for Q&A after the presentation!

About Frank Piccininni: On top of his law degree, Frank Piccininni is a biologist, avid environmentalist, and Director of Habitat Restoration at Save The Great South Bay. His role includes researching, designing and implementing native plantings across the South Shore of Long Island including sump to swamp projects and native forests that serve as filters to creek pollutants. Frank is a Senior Attorney at Sterling Risk and co-founder at SMPIL Consulting as well as the General Counsel at The Root Cause.

About Save The Great South Bay, 501(c)3: A local non-profit dedicated to protecting and preserving the Great South Bay. Our Bay Friendly Yard series demonstrates the accessibility of a Bay Friendly Yard to each and every Long Island resident, helping to restore the Great South Bay, and with that strengthen our South Shore communities.
