Guitarist Pepe del Morao, grandson of Manuel Morao and nephew of Moraito, will talk about the Morao dynasty of Jerez-style guitar and its place in the history of flamenco – with video clips and live guitar demonstration. Pepe will be interviewed by local flamenco expert Paul Shalmy as part of the 12th Annual Bay Area Flamenco Festival (2/12-2/25).

Born into one of the most important dynasties of the flamenco guitar, Pepe del Morao is the grandson of Manuel Morao and nephew of Moraíto Chico, guitarists who developed the signature sound of traditional Jerez-style flamenco guitar accompaniment. He performs regularly with his cousin Diego del Morao as well as as accompanist for many of the iconic artists of Jerez, including Juana la del Pipa, Luis el Zambo, Tomasa La Macanita, Jesus Méndez and Fernando de la Morena.
