Event description

Description

Bats are extremely beneficial yet poorly understood creatures. Join us for an evening talk on the benefits of bats as well as those found throughout the world. The talk will also cover reasons for local bat decline and how to make your backyard more bat friendly. Following the talk, we'll head outside and see if any local bats are hunting.

Program instructor, Kerry Wixted is an education and outreach specialist for the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, Wildlife and Heritage Service. Kerry runs several state-wide programs such as Project WILD for educators and Wild Acres for backyard wildlife habitat enthusiasts. Kerry holds a B.S. degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Management from Frostburg State University, and a M.S. degree in Biology from West Virginia University.
