Event description
Join us October 24th to celebrate all things batty!

About this Event

October is the perfect time to learn about our native bats and learn why these animals are far more beneficial than 'spooky'. Bats provide important benefits to humans and are particularly helpful to farmers because they control many agricultural pests. However, some Ohio bats are dying due to the disease White Nose Syndrome.

Learn about bats and specific things you can do to help support them in your community, from installing a bat box to learning bat-friendly gardening techniques. Even a small effort can make a difference for our native bats. We want you to become a BAT HERO!

After the program, we'll take a short walk to look and listen for bats. With the help of a bat detector that turns echolocation calls into sounds humans can hear, we’ll try to find some of Gorman Farm’s resident bats and enjoy the beauty of a fall night on the Farm. The path is paved and wheelchair accessible but has some steep sections.

Children under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult (18+). Children of all ages are welcome, but we recommend that children attending be at least 8 years of age to fully enjoy the program.

A valid membership is required for any member ticket purchases.
