Event description

Description

Basket weaving is the most prolific and best-known traditional Native art in California. Traditional baskets are made from a broad range of regional plant materials that carry many uses and purposes. As an important cultural art form, today’s weavers honor those traditions, ensuring the continuation of the art and its passage to the next generation.

In this two-day workshop, Dixie Rogers (Karuk) will skillfully demonstrate how to use a variety of materials and techniques while sharing Native stories and showing basket artistry. All participants will depart with their own created pieces.

Saturday and Sunday, September 23–24, 2017, 11:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

The workshop includes an hour-long lunch break. Lunch is not included.
