Description

What: This is a 2 part workshop for youth players and coaches. Gain valuable insight into why common basketball injuries occur & how to prevent them while improving overall body awareness and athleticism! Part 1 will focus on the science behind preventing injuries, Part 2 will take participants through a full prehab workout.

Speaker: Dr. Amy Atmore, PT, DPT, CSCS . Dr. Amy is a Licensed Physical Therapist working in Sports Medicine for 8 years treating thousands of athletes in high school, college and professional levels. She has developed rehabilitation protocols and guidelines to safely return athletes back to sport. Her goal is to share the importance of early intervention in taking care of your body so that you can lower your risk for getting hurt while continueing to play at your highest level.

SpecialGuest: Sarah Takahashi, Founder of TAKIFIT. Coach Sarah is a world recognized basketball skills trainer & hooper. She is well respected in the Hawaii community training & coaching youth basketball players while integrating injury prevention principles. She has personally overcome multiple knee injuries and ACL/meniscus surgery and is a strong advocate for taking care of your body

Age requirements to attend: 7th grade + up

Part 1 of the workshop will go over the following:

1) How to balance training volume and rest
2) Top 3 most common basketball injuries and how to reduce/prevent them
3) Proper body mechanics and how this will translate into increased power, speed, and agility
4) Warm up & Cool down methods to optimize athleticism
5) Essential Nutrition and & Hydration requirements for the young athlete
5) When & where to seek help for injuries so it doesn’t turn into something bigger
6) When is it safe to return to back to practice following an injury

In Part 2: Participants will be instructed through a full prehab workout. This workout will include detailed instruction on proper warm-up, mobility drills, muscle activation, balance, strengthening, agility, plyometric and cool down exercises.

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

Yes the minimum age requirement is to be in the 7th grade

What time do I need to arrive? Is there Check in?

Yes, Check in begins at 4:30pm. Please arrive between 4:30 and 4:55pm

What do I need to bring/ wear to the event?

Please bring your registration ticket, bottle of water. Wear comfortable athletic clothing and Athletic shoes. You will be participating in various exercises during the second hour. No sandals please!
