Sponsor One 2 Day Training
Sponsor a youth leader in the North Tahoe community. Your sponsorship will allow a teacher or individual who works in the non-profit sector with our youth to attend the Restorative Practices Intro training and receive coaching to bring Restorative Practices into their organization. Your donation goes directly to reducing or elimination the tuition for one attendee. Donate $350 to fully sponsor one attendee, $175 to sponsor one day of the 2 day practice, $50 pays for all supplies for one attendee.

The fundamental premise of restorative practices is that people are happier, more cooperative and productive, and more likely to make positive changes when those in positions of authority do things with them, rather than to them or for them.

Life success is built on your ability to work collaboratively within your community relationships. Whether you are a teacher, youth leader, community leader,community volunteer, or just a leader of your own life you will benefit from learning about and gaining skills in Restorative Practices.  Restorative Practices uses nonviolent communication and collaborative learning and decision making to build healthy relationships and communities, increase social capital, increase collaboration, minimize and reduce the impact of crime and any undesirable behavior, and maximize desirable behavior.


 

 

2 Day Restorative PracticesTraining Logistics:

Days & Times: Monday August 21 & Tuesday August 22

8:30am-4:30pm

Location: Church of the Mountain, Truckee CA

Day 1: Introduction to Restorative Practices

Day 2: Using Circles Effectively

 

Every Individual in the training will receive:

  • International Institute of Restorative Practices,The Restorative Practices Handbook 

  • International Institute of Restorative Practices,  Restorative Circles for Schools Training Book (although the main focus is in school settings this book has uses for any community setting.

  • Five Restorative Questions cards for responding to conflict. 

  • Certificate of completion for International Institute of Restorative Practices (IIRP) Day 1 & 2 of the Basics of Restorative Practices Training.  This is a prerequisite for further Restorative Practice classes at the IIRP. 

  • One Two Hour Individual Coaching Session to create an action plan.

  • Morning snack and catered lunch on-site both days.

The Restorative Practices training is an interactive training in which you will not only learn about restorative practices but experience them at work and have a chance to play with practical applications for your work and personal life.

DAY 1: An introducation to Restorative Practices.  

Participants will learn and interact with the theory and methodology of Restorative Practices.  We will be covering:

  • The Social Dscipline Window
  • Affect Theory
  • The Compass of Shame
  • The Restorative Continuum
  • Practical Applications for Restorative Practices

DAY 2: Using Circles Effecively

Participants will explore the many ways circles can be used to build community and trust and to repair and re-integrate after harm.
