Description

This elective course for UT Health San Antonio students, faculty and staff is designed to assist participants in developing community-based projects that have sound research designs and methodologies. Participants will learn how to read and interpret medical literature; understand different study designs and choose the best one for their projects; learn how to run a basic statistical program; and learn how to appropriately interpret their statistical results and share their findings.

There is no cost to attend this course, and all materials will be provided.

Register by August 1 to be entered for a drawing to win a helpful resource: PDQ Statistics Third Edition.

The class sessions are:

8/9/17: Literature Review: 5-6pm, LIB Computer Lab 2.011

9/13/17: Study Design Part 1: 5-6pm, MED 444B

10/4/17: Study Design Part 2: 5-6pm, MED 444B

11/15/17: Analyzing Your Data: 5-6pm, LIB Computer Lab 2.011

1/10/18: Understanding Results, 5-6pm, Room TBA

*Participants who complete all 5 sessions will receive a certificate of completion.

Two optional workshops will be offered for individualized help with your project:

10/6/17: Drop-in Workshop for help with choosing your study design, noon-1pm, LIB 2.031

1/12/18: Drop-in Workshop for help analyzing your data, noon-1pm, LIB Computer Lab 2.011
