BASIC MEDIATION TRAINING
Meets Chief Justice Order No. 05-028, Section 3.2 and Community Dispute Resolution Center requirements for 30-hour Basic Mediation Curriculum
Learn to apply mediation principles and practices to assist disputing parties to resolve their issues. Through lecture, video, role-play, and discussion, this instruction will help participants: gain an understanding of conflict resolution and mediation theory; effectively prepare for mediation; create a safe and comfortable environment for the mediation; facilitate effective communication between the parties and between the mediator and the parties; use techniques that help the parties solve problems and seek agreement; conduct the mediation in a fair and impartial manner; understand mediator confidentiality and ethical standards for mediator conduct adopted by Oregon and national organizations; and conclude a mediation and memorialize understandings and agreements.
WHO SHOULD TAKE THIS COURSE: Professionals interested in providing mediation services to clients; those working to meet State requirements as a court-connected mediator; professional and volunteer mediators wanting to better serve clients by enhancing working knowledge of mediation.
COST: $600 per person
ATTENDANCE: Class is from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break. You must attend all day, every day (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday), in order to earn a Certificate of Completion. There will be no make-up time. CLE application to be submitted.
