Description

Basic Hydraulics and Backflow Principles 4 TCH's

Hydraulics is the branch of science and technology concerned with the conveyance of liquids through pipes and channels; as water/wastewater treatment plant operators and distribution collection maintenance teams, hydraulics typically works the way it was intended for you. This course will explore hydraulics concepts that you deal with in your water and wastewater systems every day, good and bad. We will then take a look at hydraulics and how it affects backflow in your system.

What is cross connection control, backsiphonage and back pressure? A written cross connection control program is a necessary administrative tool for controlling the possibility of contamination by cross connections. This class will leave the student with an understanding of hydraulics and how it affects your water and wastewater system. A solid understanding of cross connection control will help the attendee to develop and implement a cross connection control program in their system.
AWWA Manual M-14 is the reference used for this class.

This class is good for Water and Wastewater renewal technical credit hours
