About this Event

A brief introduction to tools and skills of blacksmithing. Students will be familiarized with blacksmithing tools and processes in a safe and supportive environment. Skills covered include: drawing out stock, fullering and spreading, shouldering, cutting with a hot cut and chisel, scrolling, upsetting, twisting and punching. Students will be given the opportunity to make an S hook and a pierced wall hook. Time permitting we will work creatively and practice skills learned with extra materials.

Students should wear natural fibers like wool or cotton. Safety glasses and earplugs are available at the Hack Factory.

Will Reser has been working with welding and blacksmithing for a number of years in his own studio. He has recently taught classes at the North House Folks School in blacksmithing and is excited to share knowledge to help people get started.

You can follow his work on Instagram via @WingerAnchor.
