Barnabas Training Level Three
Barnabas Training—Levels for growing. . .
Level 1 helps us to see more clearly while looking into the life of a friend and to discover ways in which we don’t see well.
Level 2 focuses on the application of the Barnabas model with others. We learn to listen, to ask better questions, and to observe with a keener, more discerning mind and heart.
Level 3 helps us grow in confidence as we explore real-life situations where we are caring for others. It is a context for receiving feedback from peers and a Barnabas Staff counselor.
What do I need to be prepared for?
Peer Supervision is an experiential process requiring personal engagement. Feedback will be compassionate but, at times, intrusive. This is not for the weak at heart. You bring real life, care-giving situations, and a staff person leads the discussion into your "case." A warning here: we believe that the best way to improve your skills and to understand the person you are caring for is to better know your own heart. So while these sessions are built around the examination of a "client," we often find ourselves talking about the caregiver.
What are the requirements?
Level 3 meets 6 times, every other week, over 12 weeks (2.0 hours each session). You must be involved in caring for others and desire to grow. Prerequisite: Completion of Barnabas Training Level 2. Groups will be offered on Thursdays beginning January 5, 2017, and will meet every other Thursday from 12p to 2p at the Barnabas Center office in Richmond. The last meeting date will be March 16, 2017. Early registration discount ends on December 14, 2016.
What does this prepare me to do?
Hopefully, it will be a tool that deepens our dependence upon Christ and simultaneously increases our confidence as we better know ourselves and see more clearly into the hearts of others. As leaders or members of small groups, we will be able to love more deeply. Graduates should feel more able to talk with friends who struggle—more able to move into the realities of life and from there to the relevance of a Savior.
BT 3 groups require a minimum of 4 people.
Sign up early! Receive a discount if you pay your $200 deposit on or before the early registration deadline of December 14th (early registration cost is $350 per person). The cost will be $400 per person if deposit is paid after the early registration deadline. A deposit of $200 is required to register. Scholarships are available.
