This four-hour class lays the foundation for producing espresso and espresso-based beverages. Irving Farm’s instructors will Introduce students to the espresso craft by providing hands-on experience preparing espresso, steaming milk, pouring latte art, and cleaning machines in our fully-equipped Training Loft.

State components, flavor profile, and extraction parameters for Irving Farm’s Blackstrap espresso blend.
Identify features of correct espresso.
Describe the importance and process of dialing-in.
Perform the 13 steps of espresso preparation.
Prepare milk with the proper texture and temperature for cappuccinos and lattes.
Perform the steps of pouring latte art.
Simultaneously pull a shot of espresso and steam milk.
- Adhere to best practices for cleaning espresso equipment including grinder, steamwands, and groupdhead parts.
There are no pre-requisties for this course. Students should come prepared to taste coffee beverages. Class begins promptly at the top of the hour! Our lab opens 15 minutes before class starts so that you can check-in prior to the start of class.
