About this event
Almost 80 years after the 21st amendment was ratified, Daric Schlesselman established Van Brunt Stillhouse in Red Hook, Brooklyn. Despite the decades since prohibition, Brooklynites are as excited as ever about moonshine, speakeasies, and local stills. In BARCHIVES #2, Kaitlin Holt will take us through Brooklyn’s prohibition history with the help of Brooklyn Public Library’s Brooklyn Collection and the Brooklyn Daily Eagle newspaper morgue. Daric will tell us about his connections to this history as a modern distiller. Curious about the eponymous Cornelius Van Brunt? It’s a good opportunity to ask both the owner and the archivist!
