BarCamp Sheffield is back for a second outing this year.
There are no sponsors. There is no schwag. There are no t-shirts or stickers. No free food. No bar tab.
There are just geeks, of all flavours.
People pimping their passions, not their products.
More precise timings for control geeks will be announced on the wiki. Don't sweat the details just yet. Here's the essential flowdown ...
Gather at the Workstation from 10am on Saturday. Sessions run through to early evening. There'll be gaps throughout the day for refuelling. Regroup after the last session, grab some chow and party into the night.
A limited number of hardcore makers and hackers can come back to the GIST Lab to burn the midnight oil and create miracles of high and low technology. Strictly first come first served. Strictly no sleeping. Strictly for people who want to get stuff done.
Come back on Sunday after a lazy lie-in for more. There's always more, and you'll want some. Not just talks, but games too. Wrap up for travelling guests around 6pm. Any locals or alien stopouts can help us wind the weekend down.
There are also some parallel structured full and half-day activities going on as part of the GIST Craft of Development festival. Pick and choose, but sign up in advance.
Stuff to Do
Use the wiki to self-organise food parties, hunting groups, session ideas, transport hookups, the night before, the morning after and more.
Bring a mug / tankard / drinking vessel, something to eat with and stuff to share.

Stuff to Know
Check and use the wiki.
Food and logistics: In the spirit of the proto-barcamp, we encourage you to bring something to share with other participants. If you don't get round to it, there are still loads of places to grab some nosh close by, including a food order bar onsite.
Space: We're using the GIST Lab, but also a number of other spaces within the Workstation to mix things up in. There's also the pinball square outside for al fresco sessions too if the weather permits. Potentially half a dozen zones, no shortage of room.
Friday Night: If you're coming up early, gatecrash the just-in-time planning party on Friday evening in the Lab, then consider painting the town #7e0001. There's plenty of time for a lie-in on Saturday.
BarCamp Sheffield 4 is presented as part of the GIST Craft of Development Festival.
The GIST Foundation is a not-for-profit voluntary organisation dedicated to promoting grassroots and social innovation through technology and community.
