Dates of Seminar 3: Friday to Sunday, August 24-26, 2018


Time: 10:00 am - 5:00 pm every day

This 3-day workshop-seminar will introduce response art as a tool for art-based research through didactic and experiential participation.


Objectives:

• Participants will be able to describe the difference between art made to explore, and art made and/or used as research.

• Participants will be able to describe how response art may be used as data for social research.

• Participants will be able to describe how to use images as research subjects.


Schedule:

Day 1

Introduction to art-based research

- Discussion of art-based research as a qualitative research method.

- Exploring research concepts through art - ­Powerpoint

- Response art as data and synthesis for art-based research

- Discussion and questions


Day 2

Exploring examples of art-based research

- Approaches to images in art-based research

- Experiential response art workshop – part 1

- Consultation sign up (Including explanation of consultation process)

- Discussion and questions


Day 3

Art-based research workshop and consultation

- Experiential response art workshop – part 2

- Consultation with large group observation

- Wrap up, discussion and questions
