Barbara Bakich of BlackBerry AtHoc

Barbara Bakich is an award-winning team builder and mentor with a proven track record of growing revenue while leading and engaging teams in successfully exceeding company objectives.

Barbara’s education from the prestigious Trinity Valley School in Ft. Worth, TX, followed by attending both TCU and The University of Texas at Austin, first launched her career as a special needs teacher for hearing impaired and blind adolescents. Barbara’s career has enabled her to view business from a different and unique perspective. Due to personal tragedy and then beginning her family, she refocused her career to the technology industry during the “.com” period while living in Silicon Valley. However, she remained connected to the interpreting aspect of her expertise and was a key communications expert for IBM, Hewlett Packard, San Jose State University, as well as playing a key role for two past American Presidents during their election campaigns.

Barbara’s technology career has spanned more than 25 years, and she is highly experienced in implementing global initiatives and seamlessly navigating companies through complex acquisitions. Her focus is consistently advocating for client success by serving as a partner and mentor. Building high performing sales teams has been the cornerstone of her success in industries such as Crisis Communication and Security, Environmental Health and Safety, SaaS, as well as Government on the local, state, and national levels for the United States and Canada. Consistently recognized as a leader focused on client retention, renewals, operations, process improvement, and new business development, Barbara’s achievements include her recognition as one of the Top 50 Female Executives in Silicon Valley, multiple Presidents Club awards and peer tributes, as well as playing a key role in the 2018 G7 Summit in Canada coordinating communication technology for world leaders and their delegates.

Clients, colleagues, and direct reports have used terms such as: authentic, energetic, charismatic, visionary, intelligent, passionate, motivating, detailed, kind, trusted advisor/mentor, respected, committed, loyal, strategic, leader, kind, supportive, and a great sense of humor to describe Barbara. However, her most coveted commentary regarding her leadership style was the following: “In the Marine Corps, we have a saying, “Leaders eat last”. That embodies the principles of the Marine Corps leadership. Focusing on making your people successful, in turn, makes you a successful leader. Barbara seemed to understand this principle innately and embodied those day-in and day-out which then allowed her to forge an effective team with a shared a vision for success out of what had simply been a group of individuals in an extremely ambiguous environment.”

Barbara and her husband, Steve, reside in Franklin, TN. They are avid golfers and proud advocates for Proverbs 12:10 Animal Rescue and have four dogs of their own. Their daughter lives in San Diego with her husband and their son, a 16-year active duty member of the U.S. Army, currently resides in Germany.
