Recreational marijuana businesses are now legal in California. So why can't you open a bank account?

As entrepreneurs have jumped into the burgeoning recreational marijuana industry, most are finding it difficult to establish bank accounts. And without a bank account you're stuck risking life and business by keeping piles of cash around.

Join us for a real-world discussion of the challenges facing Marijuana-Related Businesses. Find out why banks are hesitant to serve MRBs and what you can do to present your MRB as an excellent candidate for a bank account. You'll walk out with an action plan and the knowledge you'll need to successfully navigate the banking industry and land a banking relationship that keeps you and your business safe.

Every particpant will receive a Certificate of Completion that can be provided to bankers as proof of your commitment.

ABOUT THE PRESENTER: Jesse Torres is a risk management professional with over 20 years in the banking industry. Jesse started his career as a federal banking regulator with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. Jesse also worked as a senior risk consultant with one of the Big Four consulting firms. Jesse has served as Chief Compliance Officer, Chief Risk Officer and Chief Operating Officer for financial institutions as large as $6.5 billion..

Jesse maintains an expertise in financial risk management and anti-money laundering. Jesse has served as an anti-money laundering instructor for federal regulators in Washington, D.C.Jesse is a graduate of UCLA and is a Southern California native. He has been married for over 20 years and is the father of two amazing daughters.


FAQs

The bootcamp sold out before I was able to register. How can I register for the waitlist or the next bootcamp?

Attendance to this bootcamp is limited. If the course is sold out send an emaili to the presenter at Jesse.Torres.2009@Anderson.UCLA.edu and request to be added to the waitlist. If space does not open you will receive a notice for the following bootcamp. Attendance is kept small to encourage discussion and maximize value to attendees.


Where do I park?

Plenty of free parking is available on 190th Street. Building parking is very limited and fills quickly.


What can I bring into the event?

Bring a notepad and plenty of questions. While there will be structure to the course there will also be the opportunity to go "off script" to address specific questions and challenges. Although eight hours may sound like a long time you will find yourself wondering where the time went. So be prepared with specific questions you may have to make sure you get the most from the eight hour boot camp!


Can I bring a laptop and will there be wifi?

You may bring a laptop. The facility will have wifi available.


Will food be provided?

A light snack and refreshments will be provided.
