Biography: 

In July 2018, Mr. Masato Miyachi was appointed Chief Executive of Global CIB and member of the board of directors at MUFG Bank, Ltd. (formerly The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, Ltd.), and was promoted to Deputy President, effective April 2019.

 

Mr. Miyachi most recently served as Co-Chief Executive of the Global Business Unit in charge of Headquarters for the Americas and Headquarters for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), as well as Chairman of the board for MUFG Americas Holdings Corporation, a New York-based position. Previously, he was Regional Executive for EMEA, before serving as Deputy Regional Executive for the Americas.

 

Joining the Bank of Tokyo, Ltd. (now MUFG Bank, Ltd.) in 1984, he spent the first few years of his career working in the Capital Markets Group before gaining extensive experience in a range of businesses, including M&A Advisory, Structured Finance, and Corporate and Investment Banking at the Bank’s Tokyo headquarters.

 

Mr. Miyachi holds a Bachelor of Economics degree from the University of Tokyo. He earned his Master’s degree from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business and his Ph.D. from Waseda University’s Graduate School of Asia-Pacific Studies in International Relations.
