Band of Brothers Leadership (6 Week Live Zoom Course Starting December 1)
Event Information
About this Event
I had the opportunity to meet Bill Guarnere and Babe Heffron at a book singing several years ago. Bill and Babe were members of Easy Company, 506th Paratroopers Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne. Wild Bill and Babe had written a book called Brothers in Battle, Best of Friends, about their experiences as part of Easy Company and the the life-long friendship they developed after World War II.
I asked them about Dick Winters, their commander, and Bill Guarnere said this: "Dick Winters is not only the finest officer I've ever known, he's the finest man I've ever known. None of us would be here today if it wasn't for Dick Winters. You'll never hear any man in Easy Company ever make a joke about Dick Winters in or outside his presence."
That's the footprint of leadership and we'll study leadership through the HBO Series Band of Brothers in order to learn the many traits that make great leaders and poor leaders.
It's easy to talk about leadership in the abstract, but we'll explore (week by week) the leadership modeled by Major Dick Winters. You'll grow as a leader and, most importantly, you'll grow as a person and a human being. Yes, you'll learn what it means when we say that being a leader is about being human.
What does it take to be worthy of followership not based upon command, control and power, but based upon earning the right to be followed?
What does it mean to earn the trust of your team?
What traits do leaders live in order to build a committed team that has each other's back?
This is your opportunity to not only grow as a leader, but to learn about leadership in the context of a band of brothers who played a significant role in assuring victory in World War II and securing freedom in this country and across the world.
Join me for this six (6) week course (90 minute live sessions every week) starting Tuesday, December 1st at Noon Eastern. Recordings will be available if you have to miss a session.
Come prepared to be open, authentic, and ready to explore leadership with a new lens as we take a leadership walk with Dick Winters and Easy Company!
