January 5, 2019 Update:

Hello and thanks for your interest in helping us with our Baltimore & The Underground Railroad tour.

We were surprised to discover that no such tour already exists (at least we couldn’t find one), especially when you consider how important this topic is, and also the fact that 2 of the most famous people associated with the Underground Railroad, Harriet Tubman and Frederick Douglass, both have strong ties to Baltimore and Maryland.

We decided to develop and present a FREE tour that would educate people on this topic.

As for myself, I am the founder of the non-profit community organization Washington, DC History & Culture

and its sister group

Baltimore History & Culture

Our mission is “to bring people together to experience the history and culture of Washington, DC/Baltimore.”

The YouTube link below has info a program we host in DC, our "Watergate Scandal / All The President's Men" Tour.

The link below is an article about our "First Ladies at the Smithsonian" Tour.

We have started putting the tour program together and hope to have the outline completed by the end of January. The biggest challenge so far is how to take a very broad topic and narrow it down into what we will expect to be a 2 hour guided walking tour.

If someone was interested in helping out they could do any of the following:

- Provide any insights on the URR in Baltimore if already familiar with the topic.

- Help us present the tour program.

- Give advice on the tour topics once we complete a rough draft of the program – e.g. which sub topics are of most interest, or advice on how to handle sensitive topics.

- Attend the tour and help hand out materials, take photos/video, or provide constructive and positive feedback on what seemed to work best and what could be improved upon.

- Etc.

Do you have any familiarity with the Underground Railroad and/or any thoughts on the items above?

Please let me know .

More updates to follow.

Thanks!
