Ballot Box Bedlam at Barrow Brewing
Sexit: The Sinister Salado Secession Scheme
An Original Radio Melodrama in One Act
by Gary D. Askins
Sunday October 30th at 7pm Barrow Brewing Company will host a one-night-only benefit for the Public Arts League of Salado (PALS). Help us raise money in support of public art in our Village. Tickets for this event are $10 and potential customers are advised to reserve early because seating is very limited. The program promises to be a boo-fest of a melodrama by the seasoned Salado Players that will be better than High Definition, more real than 3D, because it will be live and not just on a stage. Indeed this production will not only be in front of you, but it will be behind you, beside you and as a matter of fact you will be actively encouraged to be part of the action as we cheer the hero and boo the villain in an almost historical hysterical romp through the Village of Salado’s latest least great attempt at self-governance.
Root for the hero Tex as he tries to save the day and his beautiful heroine Serena (who loves catfish), watch in amazement as Snidely attempts to take control of the Salado Planning and Zoning Commission to further his own plans for eventual world domination (of course, because that’s what villains do.). Marvel at the sage advice of Tonkawa Tom, chief of the lost tribe (They were last seen on I-35.) and see if you can figure out how all this ends “Happily ever after” (because that’s what melodramas do).
