What it is about…
“Balloons” is a melodic and playful production for children, inspired by Daniil Harms’ absurd children stories and fables. The most notable part of this production is probably the lack of verbal expression – rather, the actors make sounds, talk and sing but not in any existing language. “Balloons” uses minimal means to offer fantasy-rich and imaginative entertainment for children and their parents, regardless of their nationality and native language. The main storyline is simple and bright; it is built around the main character – a little girl who has a very spirited grandmother and a particularly colorful fantasy world, which will be manifested on the stage.
This event is brought to you by the 12th annual Kids Euro Festival, a two-week long festival of European arts and culture presenting free activities to D.C. metro area children from age 2 to 12. With programs both for the general public and for school groups, more than 10,000 DC-area children and their families enjoy Kids Euro Festival programs each year. This is made possible by the 28 European Union countries and the European Union Delegation in Washington in cooperation with the European-American Cultural Foundation and The Carmel Cultural Endowment for the Arts.
