Event description

Description

The College of Agriculture, Urban Sustainability and Environmental Sciences (CAUSES), of the University of the District of Columbia (UDC), is hosting balancing aquaponic workshops. The workshops will teach participants how to effectively supply adequate nourishment to plants, while maintaining the livelihood and health of the fish used in the aquaponics method. Aquaponics combines aquaculture, which means the raising of aquatic animals (like fish), and hydroponics, which means growing plants in water. It is vital to balance these two components accurately to ensure the quality of an aquaponic system. This workshop will highlight plant density, feeding rates, and fish stocking density.
