Shelter Diversion Workshop

About this Event

The Arizona Housing Coalition is pleased to invite you to a Shelter Diversion Workshop focused on providing initial and refresher training on Diversion techniques. This is part of an initiative for the Balance of State Continuum of Care to increase the availability of Diversion training across the community.

Diversion is an evidence-based practice that involves a guided conversation with individuals seeking shelter, to identify immediate alternative housing arrangements and in some cases, connect with services and/or financial assistance to help them return to permanent housing. Successful Diversion practice can reduce the number of individuals and families becoming homeless, therefore reducing the pressure on shelter beds and housing program placements.

In this training, we will explore:

- The core concepts of Diversion

- Techniques for successful Diversion practice

- An overview of SSVF Rapid Resolution

- Operationalizing Diversion practice into programs

Who is encouraged to attend?

Direct service and Leadership staff within homeless services are encouraged to attend alongside staff from any entity that may encounter individuals and families experiencing a housing crisis.

Space is limited to 15 attendees – please register early!

LUNCH: On your own. Bring a lunch or plan to dine nearby during your lunch break.
