Mardi Gras comes but once a year (February 28, 2017), but these days you don't have to be in New Orleans to enjoy the festivities. Thinking about throwing your own indulgent fête to prepare for a pious spring ahead, or perhaps to say ciao! to winter's end? This hands-on baking class will teach a number of valuable skills that will make Mardi Gras and any future celebration a success.
Learn recipes and techniques for two of the holiday's most famous treats: Galette des Rois and Beignets. Students will gain frying-at-home donut prowess and discover the secret to hiding le fève (a little surprise -- if found, you are king for the day!) inside the King's Cake. Everyone can also enjoy one of New Orleans' most famed cocktails, a French 75 (champagne, gin, lemon).
