Description

Bai Kamara Jr. and EMERGENCY NGO cordially invite you to a charity concert and walking dinner in support of EMERGENCY’s healthcare projects in Sierra Leone, following last summer’s floods.

The Sierraleonean singer-songwriter Bai Kamara Jr. and his friends will perform at the concert and members of the Sierraeonean community will offer a walking dinner with traditional food. EMERGENCY volunteers will provide information and collect funds for projects.

His Excellency Ibrahim Sorie, Ambassador of Sierra Leone in Belgium and a representative of EMERGENCY will introduce the event, giving the latest updates on the situation in the country and on the NGO’s projects.

Entrance fee: 10 euros. All the proceeds will go to EMERGENCY projects in Sierra Leone.

We are looking forward to welcoming you, your family, friends and colleagues to an informative, inspiring and entertaining night.

EMERGENCY AND SIERRA LEONE

* Since 2001, EMERGENCY has treated over 625,000 patients in its Surgical and Paediatric hospitals in Goderich, in the outskirts of the capital Freetown, where it provides free high quality treatment.

* When the Ebola crisis hit the country in 2014, causing more than 3,900 victims, EMERGENCY kept the two hospitals operational and added the first and only Ebola Treatment Centre in Africa. A few months later, the NGO also opened a new first aid post in the city of Waterloo.

* This year, on 14 August, after three days of torrential rainfall, devastating floods and mudslides occurred in and around Freetown. Dozens of injured were treated at EMERGENCY‘s hospitals.

* Official sources report around 1000 fatalities, including one of EMERGENCY’s a team leaders, together with her two children. Hundreds are still declared missing. Over 5900 people were affected by the disaster.
