LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD!
A team of experienced SHRM volunteers conducts the Legislative Roadshow,
Legislative Action Roadshow
How many times have you heard a politician talking about workplace issues and you thought to yourself, “I wish he/she really understood more about [fill in your favorite HR topic here].” Wouldn’t it be great if you could share your experience as an HR professional with lawmakers before they pass legislation that causes problems? Well, you can. The Legislative Action Roadshow will teach you how to become a legislative action expert the easy way.
Have a chance to ask questions. Leave with written instructions to use as a reference so you can find and track important legislation that impacts your career and contact your state or federal elected officials to express an opinion or provide important information about pending HR-related legislation. They really do want to hear from you!
Members of the SHRM Texas State Council’s Legislative Action Committee will provide step-by-step instructions on how to:
- Determine who your elected officials are
- Look up the text of a specific bill and its status
- Write a letter, fax or email to express your opinion
- Call the office of your elected official to express your opinion or schedule an appointment
- Conduct a face-to-face meeting with your elected official or a member of their staff
This fun, interactive session has been submitted to HRCI for 1 hour of strategic recertification credit.
