Event description

Description

Hey Friends!

I'm going to be in Philly and I want to hang out with you and stitch. The incredible folks at The National Liberty Museum have graciously agreed to host us!

Join me on June 13th from 6-8pm
Bring your stitching materials and your friends.

I'll introduce you to Badass HERstory and we will work on our pieces, talk community building and civic engagement, and get to know each other.

If you have never stitched before you should definitely come and I'll teach you how! I'll send you a little shopping list the week before the event so you know what materials to bring with you (shouldn't be more than $10 worth).

I can't wait to meet you IRL! Spread the word and let's get this party started east coast style.

xo

While there is no charge to participate in the gathering, if you have the capacity, I would appreciate you making a donation to the museum (a 501c3 nonprofit) when you arrive. <3

About Badass HERstory:

Badass HERstory is a craftivism (craft+activism) project meant to empower individuals, build community, and reshape narrative. This project will provide an opportunity for folks to learn a new skill set with deep female roots (embroidery), to participate as global activists building off of and expanding the momentum of the equality movement, as well as, the incentive to put down their devices and create something meaningful with their hands and hearts.

Participants will be asked to share “their story” onto a 12 x 12 inch piece of fabric (with a 1" blank margin). These panels will then be sewn together and used to skin 3-dimensional structures in what will become a massive public art installation. Additionally, there will be an interactive, robust, digital catalog which will include photos of each piece and context from every contributor.

The project is open to all women, female-identified, and gender nonbinary humans on the planet. The project officially launches June 2, 2018 at www.BadassHERstory.com

About The National Liberty Museum:

The National Liberty Museum is dedicated to preserving America's heritage of freedom by encouraging people to find their own place in the story of liberty. Visitors to the Museum enjoy an inspiring and entertaining experience, as they interact with incredible stories of heroes and a collection of contemporary art. Their core themes for young people and adults include leadership and good character; diversity and inclusion; peaceful conflict resolution; and civic engagement. Their primary art form is glass art, as it makes the point that freedom is fragile.
