Description

Bad Girls of the Bible: Dinah and Tamar with Rabbi Jessica Lenza

Thursday, December 5 @6:30pm

Genesis 34 relates the short, tragic story of Dinah. Dinah steps out into the world, is immediately violated by a man she is later obligated to marry, and is blamed for her victimization. Just a few chapters later we read the shockingly different story of Tamar. Tamar impersonates a prostitute, seduces her father in law, and is praised for her deceptive tactics.

How can we understand these two very different responses to female sexuality?

Come learn about these rebel ladies who dared to defy the status quo and what they can teach us about sexual taboos and expectations in Biblical and contemporary times.

This class is open to people of all genders.
