Description

BACKYARD & INTERMEDIATE DRIP IRRIGATION

Gardening can be tough in the hot Texas summer! Learn how to water your garden more efficiently by using beginner and intermediate drip irrigation techniques.

You will hear from Tarrant Area Food Bank's Community Garden staff who will talk about different methods of drip irrigation that can be used in a backyard or community garden. The TAFB Learning Garden displays several types of irrigation techniques: drip buckets, in-ground irrigation, PVC watering grids and hand watering. The pros and cons of each system will and what it would take to set them up in your home or community garden will be discussed.

The Drip Irrigation workshop will include the following activities:

  • Presentation on backyard irrigation by TAFB Gardeners
  • Hands-on implementation of an irrigation system for the Russell Farm Art Center Community Garden
  • Reservoir container gardening
  • Free rain gauges and moisture meters courtesy of the City of Burleson Environmental Services Department

Bring your garden design and irrigation questions for another free workshop held at the Russell Farm Art Center!

Workshops will be held outdoors. We suggest wearing layers of weather-appropriate clothing that you do not mind getting dirty and closed-toed shoes.
